The media provider wherein I spent most of my time are Facebook and Spotify. I use these media providers for communication, school, learning, leisure and music. I use Facebook and Twitter for communication. I sue Spotify and YouTube for music. I use Google and YouTube for learning and my assignments. I use the television for leisure.
Unlocking Definitions:
1. Technology Literacy - It is the ability to recognize when information is needed, and to locate, evaluate, and effectively communicate information in its various formats.
2. Media Literacy - It is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media in a variety of forms. It aims to empower citizens by providing them with the competencies (knowledge and skills) necessary to engage with traditional media and new technologies.
3. Media and Information Literacy - The essential skills and competencies that allow individuals to engage with media and other information providers effectively, as well as develop critical thinking and life-long learning skills to socialize and become active citizens.
Evaluate:
An individual becomes literate in media and information if he or she is able use media and information providers effectively. He or she should also be able to use it responsibly. An individual must be able to develop critical thinking and life-long learning skills to socialize and become active citizens. As an individual I often use media and information providers in my everyday life and I can say that I am literate when it comes to media and information. An example is my job as the president of the class. I use media providers when I give announcements to my classmates. In giving announcements, I need to know how to use the media provider and I need to be responsible in using it to avoid miscommunication. Another example is when I wait for announcements for class suspension online. I must be able to use media and information providers and at the same time, I should know if the news that I see is real and not fake. My third example is when I use my Facebook account to communicate with my friends. I must be able to know how to use the media provider which is Facebook and at the same time, I must be responsible in using it to communicate with my friends.
